The main reason for this is to give flexibility so that clients can experience popular and typical food of Costa Rica at different restaurants. We use the experience of our tour guides and drivers to make the necessary recommendations to the group on where to stop for meals and they will be available to help the group at any time. 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT PACKAGES
ESCAPE TO TORTUGUERO ( 21 – ET )
On the first day this package will be the same as in the 2 night package. On the second day the boat tour will leave early in the morning ( at 6:00 a.m.) and breakfast at 8:00 a.m. The guests will leave Mawamba at 9:00 to be in Matina at 11:00 a.m. The rest of the day will be the same as the third day of the 3 Day / 2 Nights package.
If Mawamba lodge has no rooms available, we will make the reservation at Laguna Lodge with om, hot water and ceiling fans. The lodge has a bean identical package, quality and services. Laguna Lodge’s rooms have private bathroautiful pool and is located next to Mawamba in the isthmus between the ocean and the Tortuguero river.
In the case of groups, the arrival or departure to Tortuguero can be done by by boat to / from Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui. This is particularly convenient when the clients are near the Arenal Volcano area and you wish to combine it with Tortuguero. For this choice, please contact our office and we will give you a quotation, depending on the group´s size.
ESCAPE TO TORTUGUERO + AERIAL TRAM ( 21 – ETAT )
On the second day returning to San José, our transportation will be waiting for you at the Rio Danta Restaurant to take to the Aerial Tram after your lunch. ( 10 minutes by car ) After the Aerial Tram Tour ( guided ), our private transportation will be taking you back to your hotel in San Jose.
ARENAL DISCOVERY ( 21 – DVA )
The shuttle bus will be picking up the guests from their hotel at the indicated time. The transfer will take 3 ½ hours to Tabacon Lodge. The rooms are standard and they all have a volcano view. While staying at this hotel the entrance to the hotsprings is free of charge. The guests will have all the afternoon and night to enjoy the hotsprings and the Arenal Volcano. Dinner will be at the hotsprings. Next day after breakfast the morning is free to relax, enjoy the hotsprings or hike around the volcano´s slope. At 2:00 p.m. the shuttle bus will take the guests back to their hotel in San Jose.
ARENAL AND POAS EXPERIENCE ( 21 – DVAP )
Our private transportation will take the clients on the first day to the Poas Volcano National Park and afterwards to Tabacon Lodge. They can make a stop for lunch somewhere on the road. The rooms are standard and they all have a volcano view. While staying at this hotel the entrance to the hotsprings is free of charge. The guests will have all the afternoon and night to enjoy the hotsprings and the Arenal Volcano. Dinner will be at the hotsprings. Next day after breakfast the morning is free to relax, enjoy the hotsprings or hike around the volcano´s slope. At 2:00 p.m. the shuttle bus will take the guests back to their hotel in San Jose.
EXCITING PACUARE RAFTING ( 21 – PC )
This is one of the most exciting rafting trips for the people that like adventure, action and nature. The trip through the Pacuare River is one that shows one of the best sceneries of the lush rainforests of the caribbean slope. The trip starts in San Jose having breakfast on the way and by bus until you get to the River. ( 2 hours ) This day you will have your first rafting experience. On the way you will make a stop for a hike in the rainforest and to enjoy a waterfall and pond. In the afternoon you will get to a rustic and charming lodge by the river and surrounded by vegetation. They offer homemade Costa Rican food. The lodging is simple but nice and clean. The next day you will continue the rafting and at the end you will get back to San Jose by bus late in the afternoon.
3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS PACKAGES
ADVENTURE IN TORTUGUERO ( 32 – AT )
This package is operated by Mawamba Lodge and runs daily picking clients up at the main hotels in San Jose. The pick up times are fixed at most of the hotels. If the hotel is not included on the list, clients should make their own way to the hotels where Mawamba will pick up their clients. During the three days of the package an english speaking guide will escort the group.
On the first day the Mawaba bus will pick you up at your hotel to take you to Limon crossing the Braulio Carrillo National Park and the continental divide until reaching the Rio Danta Restaurant for a typical breakfast in the Caribbean lowlands. After breakfast the trip will continue to Puerto Astua in Matina ( 1 ½ hours drive ). Mawamba will be waiting for the group at the start of the canal trip to Tortuguero town. It is a breathtaking trip on calm water using many different rivers. The boats have canopies and rainponchos for the passengers.
During the trip the guide will point out birds and animals and giving you a natural history of the area.
If the clients require vegetarian food, tell us in advance, so that we can make the arrangements. On arrival to Mawamba lunch will be served. Meals are served on a menu basis, at indicated hours, offering a wide variety of excellent cuisine.
Your tour guide will offer an afternoon walk to Tortuguero town so you can see the lifestyle of the local people. In the town there are 2 souvenirs shops with T-shirts, post cards, etc. Dinner will be at Mawamba Lodge. The lodge has a swimming pool, beachfront, the Tortuguero river, beautiful gardens, a natural trail, hammocks, a bar with music, television room and a restaurant. Swimming at the beach or river is not recommended due to the strong currents, but the spectacle of the wild Caribbean is outstanding!
On the second day we will visit the Tortuguero National Park to observe the fauna and flora of the forest. The trip will take two hours in the morning and another two hours in the afternoon.
Normally the morning tour starts at 6:00 a.m. and finishes at 8:00 a.m. With breakfast afterwards.
The boats are small without a canopy for a better view. Lunch and dinner are at Mawamba. After breakfast the guide will offer the guests a walk to the Tortuguero hill (120 meters) or the morning may be spent relaxing by the pool.
On the third day breakfast will be at 7:30 a.m. and you will leave the hotel at 9:00 a.m. Reaching Puerto Astua in Matina at 11:00 a.m., where you will be able to use the restrooms and then continue your trip to the Rio Danta Restaurant to have lunch. If some passengers are going to the Caribbean beaches, we can organize a transfer from Puerto Astua ( Matina ). In Matina a car park for rented cars is available. Lunch at Rio Danta is included and after, the bus will take you to San Jose. The bus will leave you at the different hotels in San Jose between 3 and 4 p.m. From Rio Danta we can make an easy connection for the Arenal Volcano. The passengers will reach Rio Danta around 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m. the guests may leave from there to reach the volcano area around 4:30 p.m. Private transfer or rented car can be arranged at Rio Danta.
The rooms at Mawamba are standard all with private bathroom, hot water and a ceiling fan. There are no phones, TV or air conditioning. The water is safe to drink and to brush your teeth. Mineral water is always available for guests at the main restaurant. The restaurant has a self service section open 24 hours for mineral water, beers, tea, coffee, etc.
TORTUGUERO ADVENTURE + AERIAL TRAM ( 32 – ATT )
On the third day turning back to San Jose, our transportation will be meeting you at the Rio Danta Restaurant to take you afterwards to the Aerial Tram. ( 10 minutes ) After the Tram Tour our transportation will be taking you to your hotel in San Jose.
CARIBBEAN MAGIC ( 32 – MC )
If you are not willing to miss our caribbean coast this is your tour. The shuttle bus service will be picking you up between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. This will be a very interesting trip crossing the lush Braulio Carrillo National Park until getting to the caribbean lowlands. The trip takes around 4 hours to the chosen hotel. You will have the afternoon to enjoy the beach and at night you have the choice to have dinner at one of the restaurants nearby to try the caribbean food.
Next day you have all day for your own leisure at the beach or you can take one of the tours of the area like snorkeling, dolphin observation, horseback riding or hiking in the forest.
On the third day the morning will be free to enjoy the beach or the hotel. At 2:00 p.m. the shuttle bus will be picking you up to take back to San Jose. You will be back around 6:00 p.m.
This tour can be combined easily with Selva Bananito Lodge or Mawamba in Tortuguero.
| MANUEL ANTONIO ( 32 – MA ) |
| The Interbus shuttle will pick clients up at their hotel between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. depending on the hotel they are staying. The actual pick up time will be given to the clients on their arrival in the country. The shuttle bus transportation uses modern minivans with air conditioning. The trip to Manuel Antonio will take 3 ½ hours and will drop the clients at the hotel in Manuel Antonio. The afternoon would be free to enjoy the beach and hotel. The next day is at leisure to perhaps visit the Manuel Antonio National Park and the beach. The morning of the third day is also free to enjoy the beach and your hotel. At 2:00 p.m. the shuttle bus will pick you up to take you to your hotel in San Jose. |
| MONTEVERDE ( 32 – MV ) |
| On the first day the shuttle bus transportation will pick up the clients at their hotel around 8:00 a.m. The trip to your hotel in Monteverde takes about 4 hours. The afternoon would be at leisure to enjoy the attractions of the area, or they can take a hike on the hotel forest trails. The next morning will be free for you to visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. In the afternoon you can take some of the optional tours of the area like the skywalk, the skytrek and the butterfly garden. On the third day the morning would be free and around 2:00 p.m. the shuttle bus transfer to San Jose will take place. |
| ENCHANTED HEIGHTS ( 32 – BMA ) |
| The shuttle bus for Trogon Lodge leaves between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and arrives around 12:00 p.m. for lunch. The afternoon will be free to relax or to walk through one of the trails of the forest of the lodge. This place is excellent for relaxing and for birdwatching. Meals are included starting the first day with lunch and ending with breakfast on the third day. The meals are on a fixed menu basis and Costa Rican home made food is offered. Next day you can wake up early to look for the precious bird the ” Quetzal “. The rest of the day is on your own leisure to explore the area. Next day after breakfast the shuttle bus will be taking you back to San Jose. If you choose to visit the Irazu Volcano, the transportation will be private on the first day and you will have the freedom to stop for pictures or for lunch on the way. You will be getting to Trogon Lodge around 2:00 p.m. In this case lunch will not be included on the first day. |
| POAS – BOSQUE DE PAZ – ARENAL ( 32 – PBA) |
| This 3 Day Tour will give you a wonderful overview of Costa Rica´s natural wonders. You will see the huge crater of the Poas Volcano with its blue sulphur-tinge lake and misty cloudforest. There will be time to admire the handicrafts and painted oxcarts in Sarchi. You will enjoy the forest of Bosque de Paz and its hummingbirds! After seeing the great waterfall of Rio Toro the afternoon will be free to enjoy the hotsprings of Tabacon and the lava eruptions of the Arenal Volcano. This is the most active volcano of the country and you have an excellent view from your room! You have 3 Days? This is your tour! First Day:Early in the morning your tour guide will pick you up to take you to the Poas Volcano. You will have a typical lunch en route and after there will be time to explore the handicrafts of Sarchi. After an hour drive through the mountains and beautiful landscapes you will arrive at Bosque de Paz. Dinner and Overnight. Second Day:After breakfast there will be a hike to enjoy this beautiful vegetation of a premontane rainforest. After a delicious lunch your driver will show you the magnificent Rio Toro waterfall. The drive will continue to the Tabacon Lodge by the volcano slope. You will have time to enjoy the hotsprings and the activity of the most impressive volcano of Costa Rica. From your comfortable rooms at Tabacon Lodge you will have a volcano view all night long! Third Day:After breakfast your morning will be free to relax or to walk through a trail that shows you the solidified lava and the volcano, or you can enjoy the hotsprings! At 2:00 p.m. you will have a shuttle bus transfer back to San Jose. |
OTHER PACKAGES
TORTUGUERO – ARENAL ( 43 – TA )
This package includes the Adventure in Tortuguero. On the third day, our transportation will be waiting for you at the restaurant Rio Danta. After your lunch you will be driving to the Arenal Volcano area. You will stay at Tabacon Lodge. The rest of the afternoon will be at your own leisure to enjoy the hotsprings and the volcano view from your hotel room.
The morning of the fourth day will be free for your own leisure. In the afternoon, the shuttle bus will be taking you back to San Jose.
ARENAL MANUEL ANTONIO ( 43 – AM )
On the first day, the shuttle bus will be taking you from San Jose to Tabacon Lodge in the Arenal Volcano area. The afternoon will be for you to enjoy the hotsprings and the volcano view from your room. The next day, early in the morning, the shuttle bus will be taking you to Manuel Antonio to the hotel Playa Espadilla. You will stay 2 nights to enjoy the National Park Manuel Antonio and the beach. On the fourth day the shuttle bus will be taking you in the afternoon back to San Jose.
