CAHUITA TOWN AND NATIONAL PARK
|
|
This small town is located at Cahuita Point and it borders the National Park of
the same name. It is a light-hearted and peaceful town, with many restaurants
and bars, where you can also dance to Caribbean music. The main attraction of
this town is the national park with its white sandy beach, where tourists can
linger. We also recommend Puerto Vargas in the same Park. You will find the entrance
on the outskirts of Cahuita on the main road, 4 kilometers ( 2.4 miles ) ahead
on the left hand side. This place has a beautiful beach for swimming and some
picnic tables as well . This beach is located in front of the rangers´ house
in Puerto Vargas.
There is a very pleasant trail along the beach and near the forest that takes
you from Puerto Vargas to Cahuita ( 7 kilometers: 4.2 miles ). It has flat terrain
and takes you to many secluded beaches for snorkeling or to simply be alone. The
vegetation of the park is extravagantly green and frequently you can see sloths,
monkeys, toucans, iguanas and other animals and birds.
