Located only an hour from La Fortuna, these caverns offer an unforgettable underground mystical adventure. If you're ready to get wet and muddy and to see amazing stalactites, stalagmites, bats and subterranean streams, then join us! On this tour, we'll be trekking through some narrow winding passages, therefore it is not recommended for those with claustrophobia.

You will slide with the help of cables, and will cover 9 platforms built around huge and strong trees, that stand at an average height of 25 meters. At this altitude you will see a wide variety of orchids, bromeliads, ferns, moss and lichens that stand out like decorations on the green treetops. As far as animals are concern it is not unusual to run into sloths, white-faced monkeys, and a huge variety of birds.

Canopy is a supervised activity and the equipment utilized can hold up to 3 tons of weight, which assures the highest standards of security. The activity starts off with a brisk 45-minute walk into the forest, among well-trodden paths, in order to reach the first platform. The tour is approximately 3 hours long and you will need comfortable clothes that allow for maximum flexibility and the desire to enjoy the sensation of great altitude.

Tabacon Canopy Tour

Our guests traverse from tree to tree and platform to platform using pulleys on horizontal traverse cables, as they sail through the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy, and over the trails far below. Expert guides assist you in this exciting journey through the different layers of the virgin rain forests and explain whats going on around you, from the time you leave the ground, until you rappel back down to the forest floor.

Our main objective is to provide tourists a unique activity and ecological experience while, at the same time, helping to aid in the preservation of the worlds endangered rain forests through direct financial support to conservation, education and reforestation efforts.Canopy Tour Tabacon begins at the Group Reception area next to the Tabacon Spa.The tour itself consists of a series of platforms mounted in the trees of the nearby rainforest, across the road from Tabacon Spa, located between the hotel and the new Las Fuentes Spa. The visitor moves from platform to platform using high-angle equipment and techniques on a new system designed especially for this location. There are 8 platforms, 2 horizontal traverses (zip lines), 2 rappels and an inclined glide from the treetops down to poolside at the Las Fuentes Spa.

In 2000 we built our sixth Original Canopy Tour in the Tabacon Resort and Spa located at the base of the incredible Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica's northern region.
