GOING BANANAS IN THE CARIBBEAN
COAST ! this relaxing and exciting roundtrip is made for
Caribbean lovers who would like to enjoy one of the most beautiful and exotic
spots in Costa Rica! The Caribbean coast offers an incredible biodiversity —
wherever the eye wanders, it encounters colourful flowers, exotic birds, gently
swaying palm trees, lush green foliage, crystal clear waters and exotic food.
The
Southern Caribbean coast starts at port Limón, which is the turning point
for trading ships crossing the Atlantic and visited by many cruise liners. South
of the port, long, deserted beaches wind their way to the town of Cahuita, with
its national park. The Caribbean coast has a friendly, easy-going Caribbean
atmosphere, with reggae music and cosy bars and restaurants dotted along the
palm-covered beaches popular among surfers. A hike in Cahuita National Park
is recommended, as is a trip to visit the nearby sloth hospital, where these
injured creatures are treated and later released back into the wild.
A
little further south, the jungles of Gandoca - Manzanillo wildlife sanctuary
reach down to fantastic beaches with palm trees and solitary bays, while the
jungle-covered mountainsides of the Talamanca range offer an array of hiking
and adventure tours.

DAY |

You will get your rented car
delivered at 8:00 a.m. at your hotel or at the airport. After doing the paper
work you can start your drive to our Caribbean Coast. The road crosses our continental
divide and the lush Braulio Carrillo National Park. Reaching the lowlands you
can have a ride on the Rain
Forest Aerial Tram ( the hanging gardens of Central America. ( Optional
) After this you can keep on driving the main road until reaching Port of Limon.
Here you can visit the Puerto Vargas Park and witness the monument to Columbus,
who set foot at the Uvita Island in front of the park. Port of Limon is the
most important port in the country and it is the capital of the province having
a very interesting history being our door to the Caribbean Sea. From Limon you
will drive south to the little towns Cahuita and then Puerto Viejo ( Old Harbour
).
Rest of the afternoon own your
own leisure.

| SECOND
DAY |

After breakfast our representative
will pick you up for your Hiking / Snorkeling tour in the Cahuita
National Park. The National Park protects one of the most important
and richest coral reefs in our coast. You will get your snorkeling equipment
and after a short drive on a glass-bottomed boat you can snorkel and enjoy the
abundant sea life in this protected area. After the snorkeling adventure you
will have a hike near the forested coastal area and your tour guide will help
you spot the interesting animals like sloths, monkeys, iguanas, birds and many
others.
Once back at the hotel you will
have time to enjoy the beach near your hotel or your can explore the area. There
are many different beaches near by and at night you may want to drive to Puerto
Viejo Town ( 10 minutes ) to enjoy the different restaurants and the night life.

DAY |

On this tour we will visit first the Green
Iguana Farm and the medicinal plants garden at the Kekoldy Indian Reserve.
This reserve is a place where a small indian family is dedicated to the reproduction
of endangered green iguanas. After this we will visit the Cocoa House, where
a native indian will show us the process involved in producing chocolate out
of the cocoa beans and also you will learn about their daily life experiences.
The third stop will be visiting a family inside the indian reserve where we
will have direct contact with the Bribri culture. At last we will visit a
waterfall where you can swim and enjoy a fruit snack. After this you will
have lunch in a typical restaurant of the area before returning to your hotel.

DAY |

Day at your own leisure to enjoy your holidays. You can enjoy
the beach right in front of your hotel or you can drive to the nearby beaches
like Punta Uva or Gandoca Manzanillo. Also in the area there are other tours
available like Canopy, Horse Back riding and many others.

DAY |
|
After breakfast you will drive
to the Operations Center from Rios Tropicales at El Cairo Town near Siquirres
City. At this place you can get ready for your Pacuare
River Rafting Tour Class 4. This is one of the most beautiful rivers
in Costa Rica. You will have lots of fun while enjoying a great scenery during
the rafting trip. At the end you will have time to get changed and you will
enjoy a nice lunch before driving back to San Jose. In San Jose you will return
the car at the Car Rental Office. End of services.
