In this tour you will get into the Tempisque River, the most important river of the Guanacaste province. On this river you will enjoy a two and a half hours boat ride. From the boat, watch the fabulous array of wild birds and a myriad of creatures such as howler and white-faced monkeys, green iguanas and coatis, anteaters and crocodiles.
Palo Verde is part of the biogeographic unit known as "the Tempisque River Lowlands". This park is on the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance. One of the largest gatherings of waterfowl and waders in the whole of Central America occurs in Palo Verde. On the 2.3- hectare Pájaros Island on the Tempisque River 13 species of birds nest.

The park provides shelter for a great variety of birds such as the American Woodstock, the Roseate Spoonbill, the Boat-billed Heron, the Tiger Heron, Night Herons, Osprey, White ibis, Snowy egrets and jacanas.

Palo Verde is one of the most important and interesting National Parks in Costa Rica. It has at least 12 different habitats within the park including: mangroves, swamps, swamps forests, saltwater and freshwater lagoons and marshes.
