Leaving San José, we will head towards the Pacific coast along the old Spanish route that has been in use since 1606. Along the way, we’ll stop briefly to enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican breakfast.
Once we reach our destination, we’ll take a jungle boat tour that goes along the Tarcoles River. Our guides will introduce you to the world of crocodiles and exotic birds.
After the boat tour, we’ll arrive at one of the most beautiful protected areas around, Punta Leona Beach Resort. This exotic paradise is surrounded by 750 acres of lush tropical rainforest, pristine white-sand beaches and deep the blue waters of the Pacific.
You’ll have the day at leisure with plenty of time to enjoy the great weather as well as the activities offered by the resort, including water sports, swimming in the crystal-clear water of the ocean or simply relaxing by the pool. You can have lunch at one of the resort’s several restaurants.
If interested, guests can take an optional guided tour through the rainforest. The tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and is a good opportunity to see amphibians, reptiles, and scorpions, among other creatures.
The sunset at Punta Leona is an extraordinary experience, and you’ll have the chance to take it all in before we return to San Jose.
