The
well-hidden secret of Tango Mar is located on the beautiful, deserted Quisales
beach at the Nicoya Peninsula on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. The Resort
can easily be reached by land or by air.
By
land it is a 2 hours drive from San Jose to the port of Puntarenas. Here you
board the ferry to Paquera. Check the dolphins on your ride! From Paquera it
takes you another 45 minutes to drive to Tango Mar. By air, you take a 25-minute
flight from San Jose to Tambor Airstrip, located 6 km from the Resort.
Tango
Mar offers three different types of lodgings; oceanfront rooms that mainly cater
to families, tropical suites for couples and Tiki suites for the most demanding.
All rooms have been recently renovated, have a private bath and are equipped
with a/c, phone, satellite TV, a safety deposit box, a well-stocked minibar
and complementary coffee.
Beach
Front Rooms
You have never slept closer to the beach! These spacious rooms feature 2 queen
size beds in a tropical atmosphere. The private bath is equipped with all necessary
amenities such as a hairdryer and a large shower. For families there connecting
rooms on request. Enjoy the superb views from your private balcony and let the
gentle sounds of the surf put you to sleep at night!
Tropical Suites
These unique and charming rooms are built in elliptical-shaped clusters of three
and surrounded by exuberant tropical gardens. It is located 250 feet (80m) from
the beach and the golf course. Each suite is graced with a hand carved four-post
canopy king size bed and a Jacuzzi. The private bath is equipped with all necessary
amenities such as a shower and a hairdryer. Watch the monkeys passing by from
your sun-deck!
Tiki
Suites
These Polynesian-style cabanas are very romantic and located 60 feet (20m) from
the beach. Decorated with an abundance of wood and bamboo, these suites breathe
the atmosphere of a private cottage. All suites have a wooden king size bed
from where you enjoy the view of the stain glass dome window. The private bath
features both a Jacuzzi and a shower.
Beach
Front Villas (Robinson Crusoe & Mono Congo last one with outside Jacuzzi)
These spacious two-air conditioning bedrooms, two bathrooms, come with a fully
equipped kitchen, living rooms and terrace. There is nothing that obstructs
the view between you and the ocean except for a pair of hammocks where you will
find the ultimate in relaxation and the only disturbance comes from the waves
and jungle animals. Daily maid service is provided.
Royal
Villa
This villa at the beach, is offering a peaceful and relaxing setting in a deluxe
ambience. The 3 levels of this villa have commanding bedrooms, the swimming
pool and whirlpool; the third level has one room, a fully equipped kitchen,
living bedroom and a large terrace with a beautiful ocean view. The 5 bedrooms
have a private bathroom with shower, air-condition, minibar, small refrigerator,
hair dryer, and satellite TV.
The
Presidential Villa
The pride of Tango Mar! Situated very close to the golf course, the Presidential
Villa offers a very relaxing atmosphere in a deluxe ambiance. The villa consists
of two master suites and two junior suites, a very spacious, fully equipped
kitchen, an open design living room and a private parking lot. All suites have
private baths, private balconies and separate clothing rooms. The suites are
elegantly furnished with hand carved canopy king-size beds with lace bedding
and have a TV satellite, stereo, and a/c. In addition, the master suites each
have a Jacuzzi, a sitting area and ample of possibilities to put up extra beds.
Enjoy the ocean view from the private swimming pool with waterfall! It is ideal
for families and friends, up to 10 people.
Tango
Mar has a 9-hole executive golf course (par 3 and par 4), two lightened tennis
courts, a soccer field, four swimming pools and stables with quality horses.
Golf-equipment, mountain-bikes and boogie-boards are available for rent.
In
our “Cristobal” gourmet-restaurant, the freshest seafood, international
cuisine and native Costa Rican dishes are prepared under supervision of our
Chef. Decorated with bamboo and furnished with beautiful Cristobal wood, the
restaurant features a casual, yet romantic setting with a breathtaking ocean
view. Aperitifs, cocktails and after-dinner drinks are served at the Tango Bar.
Just few steps away from the beach it’s our new swimming pool with Jacuzzi
and wet bar; you will enjoy beautiful views of the ocean and the pastel colors
of the sunset.
Our
Spa offers, innovated treatments to optimize your health. Such as Yoga lessons,
massages, energy healing, nutripuncture, facial rejuvenation among others.
Surrounded
by beautiful trees and flowers, so close to the ocean, our “Rancho”
poolside Grill-restaurant on the beach is the place to enjoy lunch snacks and
tropical cocktails.
Two
private beaches have over a mile of sand for walking and sunbathing. Venture
along the cliffs to the Mirador for a breathtaking panorama of beach and ocean.
Then explore the coastline and a sign-posted nature trail on a visit to a nearby
cove where you will discover a 40-foot waterfall bursting through a cliff into
the natural ocean pool below. Or, take a refreshing dip in our pool during the
day or evening.
Enjoy
a game of tennis during the day or evening on the illuminated courts at Tango
Mar. Or do what most other people do ... laze amid the beautiful surroundings
of the spring-fed swimming pool set in a picture-perfect jungle garden of exotic
plants and trees.
Sport
and deep sea fishing offers constant action bringing in sailfish, marlin, dorado,
tuna, wahoo and mackerel. On coastal fishing excursions boats travel in sight
of Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve, with a view of one of the most beautiful nature
parks and the exotic birds that inhabit it. Deep sea fishermen are attended
by experienced crews who know the local waters and can locate the best fishing
sites. Fishing parties frequently experience sightings of whale and dolphin
in these waters.
Tango
Mar has its own quality horses and stables. You can ride into the jungle, across
rivers and valleys, visiting local village communities and discovering hidden
jungle waterfalls. Trails also include some of the best beach horseback riding
available anywhere.
Exhilarating
snorkeling and scuba adventures are to be found among the reefs off nearby Tortuga
Island with their intriguing rock formations festooned with myriad soft corals,
sponges, anemones, featherdusters and dancing tropical fish. The Banana Express
is a sunken steamboat with interesting aqua culture and lots of colorful fish!
And intrepid divers thrill at deep water sightings of majestic manta rays, whales
and bottlenose dolphin.
Sailing
excursions may be arranged to fit any desire. Enjoy a romantic interlude cruising
along the Pacific coastline at sunset, or embark on a journey to long distance
ports. A sailing adventure suitable for your style and budget is easily organized
on site during your stay at Tango Mar.
Surfers
will relish the constant rolling waves that are characteristic of this part
of Costa Rica. Few places in the world offer the experience of riding the crest
of wave after wave with only the dipping and soaring gulls as companions. Tango
Mar's own south facing beach if fast rising, with waves that close out quickly,
but good for a short ride, especially when the Antarctica storms are brewing.
The west end of the beach offers a point break onto shallow rocks into a fast,
right slide. Nearby Mal Pais gets sets from the west and south - long rides
and overheads.
Tango
Mar's list of leisure attributes also features the popular game of soccer. The
resort's soccer complex includes a number of well-groomed fields of sizes suitable
for all age groups. Costa Rica Division I teams visit the resort to practice,
play with and provide coaching to visiting international teams.
Excellent
service and a very romantic place. A very interesting option for honeymooners.
There are interesting activities in the area. The hotel has beach front but
the ocean is a little bit rough.
