hideaway, you found it! La Laguna de Lagarto Rainforest Lodge, located in Northern
Costa Rica.
From San José to Alajuela: then climb the side of Poás Volcano,
known for its huge crater. Turning right to Varablanca, here you´ll see
beautiful coffee fincas and further up strawberries and ornamental plant and cutflower

sugar cane, yucca, pineapple and most of the citrus fruits grown in Costa Rica.
The road is paved clear to Pital, over 60 miles from San José, after which
is a good gravel surfaced road for another 18 miles to Boca Tapada. And from there
another 4 miles also on a firm gravel road to the Laguna del Lagarto Lodge.

OUR COMMENTS:
|
|
If you are looking for a nature lodge off the beaten track, this is your place.
Great place for birdwatching and to enjoy the huge trees, flora and fauna of a
rainforest. Hot climate, very pleasant and tranquil. Accomodations are simple
and functional, no luxury, no TV, no air conditioning. The road to the lodge is
very bumpy and sometimes very muddy. A 4WD is recommended all year round. Meals
are served family style, typical food using many of their own produced vegetables
and fruits.
