Nestled in the mountains adjacent to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve,
you will find the Hotel Belmar in Monteverde, in the province of Puntarenas
on the continental divide at 4800 feet above sea level. From San Jose to Monteverde
it takes 4 ½ hours by car. The last 22 miles are not paved, dusty and
usually in bad shape after the rain. A 4WD is recommended all year round.

of an immense tropical rain forest, internationally known as one of the world's
premiere wildlife sanctuaries.
