Aguila de Osa Inn
is located in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, situated on a high bluff overlooking
the Aguitas river with panoramic views of Drake Bay. Reaching out into the Pacific

as one of the most biologically intense places on earth. Encompassing Corcovado
National Park and Caño Island, two of Costa Rica's most prized protected
areas, the Osa Peninsula is a priceless natural treasure with an abundance of
tropical plants, mammals, insects and over 350 species of birds.
Aguila de Osa Inn comes
complete with 2 suites and 11 deluxe rooms, all of which are nestled neatly
into the surrounding hillside. Hardly visible from a distance, our rooms are
separated into three distinct clusters, each offering spectacular views of the
lush, tropical jungle that surrounds the hotel. Resting high above the water's
edge, the rooms are open and spacious; with mesh windows to ensure a tropical
breeze to pass through your room.
All rooms feature large
Italian tiled bathrooms, cathedral style ceilings, hot water, ceiling fans,
24 hour electricity, hand crafted decor, in addition to drinkable well water
that is UV treated with a micro-filtered system.
A well maintained cement
trail connects the rooms with the hotel's restaurant/office area, which during
the evening hours is well lit to ensure safe passage to and from your room.
To ensure that you have
a comfortable and enjoyable stay, Aguila de Osa Inn provides daily room service
and maintains a 24 hour reception desk.

Aguila de Osa Inn
has a variety of daily tours designed to help you enjoy and maximize your time
while at the hotel. Our excursions range from short, low impact birding tours
to full day hikes in Corcovado National Park. While most of the tours have designated
departure times our staff is flexible and will do all we can to accommodate
your needs.
Situated just 20-30 minutes by boat from Aguila de Osa Inn, Corcovado National
Park is world reknown for its rich diversity and spectacular scenery.
Corcovado
National Park Tour
Your Corcovado
tour begins with a visit the San Pedrillo Ranger Station, which is the Park's
northern most ranger station. From here your guide will lead you up into the
dense jungle comprised of primary and secondary forest, during which time you'll
be introduced to some of the more interesting aspects of the Park's natural
surroundings. The trails themselves are clearly marked and easy to navigate,
ascending and descending through the verdant rainforest. One particular trail
leads to a large waterfall, ideal for photos and/or bathing.
For those interested, we
also offer tours to Corcovado's Sirena Ranger Station. This ranger station is
also located along the Pacific coast, but further south in the middle of the
Park. The boat ride to Sirena from the hotel takes approximately one hour, well
worth it for anybody who wants to see the Park's interior. There are several
trails that surround the ranger station, some of which offers visitors to the
Park with the best opportunites to observe wildlife. While not always visible,
common sightings at either of the ranger stations include scarlet macaws, monkeys,
pecaries, iguanas, sloths, lizards, and a wide variety of plants, amphibians
and insects.
We recommend that you bring
sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, bug repellent, binoculars, bathing suit and most
importantly hiking shoes. While hiking along the trails you'll find yourself
crossing streams/rivers, in addition to traversing across slippery, sloping
terrain. Sandals are not recommended for the hiking portion of the tour.
This tour includes lunch
and softdrinks, which are served at the end of the hikes. Shortly thereafter
you'll board the boat and return to Aguila de Osa Inn.
Isla
del Caño National Park Tour
Caño Island
is situated just 12 nautical miles from Aguila de Osa Inn, and can be seen just
minutes after leaving the protected cove of the hotel. The boat ride to the
Park entrance takes approximately 45 minutes, during which time you might be
lucky enough to see whales and/or dolphins frolicking in the ocean.
Your tour to Caño
Island includes ample time to snorkel in front of the ranger station. This will
provide snorkelers with an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with
the underwater terrain and sea life surrounding Caño Island. The dark,
volcanic rock is home to numerous species of marine life, much of which you'll
see just a short swim from the beach. As well, you'll have time for a relatively
short hike, which begins just behind the ranger station. After an initial climb,
the trail tapers off and remains rather flat throughout the remainder of your
hike. Caño Island is not know for its prolific wildlife, however, the
Park does have rodents, crustaceans, amphibians, birds, lizards, and insects.
As well, there are archeological remains on the island, which can be found at
the very end of one of the island's trails. Small, completely round spheres
can be observed, which is believed date back to the days when the island was
inhabited by indians. As well, you'll have
This tour includes
lunch, which comes complete with a variety of tropical fruits and drinks, salad,
sandwiches, and snacks, i.e. cookies. Lunch is prepared and served around midday,
along the beach, just to the right side of the Ranger Station. There are benches
and shaded areas for those who need a reprieve from the hot sun. The Park Ranger
Station has an office, public bathrooms, an outdoor, freshwater shower, and
storage area.
No other region
of Costa Rica offers the visitor a more pristine, virgin environment to discover.
The Aguila de Osa Inn offers visitors to the region a comfortable and private
refuge from which to explore the magic and beauty of mother nature in all her
glory and complexity.
We welcome you
to Aguila de Osa Inn and look forward to providing you with a long lasting,
memorable vacation experience.
It's important
to keep in mind that Aguila de Osa Inn is situated just on the outskirts of
Osa Peninsula's Corcovado National Park and that visiting the Inn can be physically
demanding due to it's remoteness, rugged terrain and hot, tropical weather.
Thus, we recommended that those wishing to visit the Inn be in reasonable physical
condition so that you'll be able to appreciate the beautiful surroundings and
participate in the numerous tours we offer.
